Perfect Betrayal (Double Helix, #2) by Jade Kerrion

You can defeat your enemies, but can you defeat your friends?

Danyael Sabre, an object of desire, would much rather not be. An alpha empath by birth, a doctor by training, and an empathic healer by calling, he is stalked by the military that covets his ability to kill, not heal. Bereft of two days of memories, he goes on the run under the protection of an assassin, Zara Itani.

The more he uncovers of his lost hours, the more he doubts everything that once anchored him. He knows only that he endangers those around him and that he is falling in love with Zara, who hates him for reasons he no longer remembers.

As forces—both powerful and ruthless—threaten those he cares for, Danyael has only two options. He can betray his values and abandon the path of the healer, or he can wait to be betrayed, not by enemies, but by his friends.

My thoughts
Perfect betrayal picks up where perfection unleashed left off, Danyael is minus two days of his memoires thanks to a memory wipe, Galahad is fleeing the country with Miriya, Lucien as been convinced that Danyael is better off without the two day memories  and Zara is protecting Danyael.

Zara hates Danyael but unfortunately he cant remember why. Lucien as asked her to protect Danyael and she as agreed but she as her own reasons for helping him.

As in perfection unleashed Zara was a character I loved to hate and I yoyo'd between both emotions with her, many times I thought she would redeem herself and her actions but many times she disappointed me. because of this she was one of my favourite characters, even if I wanted to slap her. Lol

Danyael again was the hero in my eyes, he is pushed to his limit so many times, physically and emotionally  he risked himself over and over again for the people he cared for but all he got in return was betrayed.

the title of the book is spot on, it was the perfect betrayal and one Danyael never saw coming, after all he had been through already I was sure this would break him.

This book raised the question, who can you ever really trust and is one man's life ever more important than another man's.

there was one character who seriously took  a nose dive in my eyes I wont give anything away but I was disappointed with the decisions this character made especially the consequence it had on Danyael who in case you hadn't realised I completely loved.

His feelings for Zara increased the more time he spent with her and I was pleading with her to return his feelings, he so deserves to be happy even if that is with Zara.

By the end of the book I felt like I had been on a roller-coaster and I couldn't wait to pick up the next instalment.

Author Bio:

Jade Kerrion, a graduate of the Johns Hopkins University, unites cutting-edge science and bioethics with fast-paced action in her award-winning Double Helix series which draws rave reviews for its originality and vision, and is described as “a breakout piece of science fiction.”

Here is where it started

“‘Perfection Unleashed’ is a highly-enjoyable, brainy guilty pleasure of a novel: a perfect mixture of non-stop action, gripping plot, thought-provoking philosophy, and beautiful visuals…a feast for the eyes.”—A.L., Amazon reviewer

“The story moves along at a quick pace but many of the scenes seem to hover in slow motion as your senses absorb them. It is sort of like seeing your whole life before you as you are about to die. Every conceivable emotion is involved as the story plays out: fear, courage, hatred, love, jealousy, sacrifice, and the whole planet seems to be writhing in a life or death struggle…this is a book you won’t put down until the last page is turned.”—P.B. Sharp, Amazon top reviewer

Here’s the set-up:

His genetic code sourced from the best that humanity offers, Galahad embodies the pinnacle of perfection. When Zara Itani, a mercenary whose abrasive arrogance exceeds her beauty, frees him from his laboratory prison, she offers him the chance to claim everything that had ever been denied him, beginning with his humanity.

Perfection cannot be unleashed without repercussions, and Galahad’s freedom shatters Danyael Sabre’s life.

An alpha empath, Danyael is rare and coveted, even among the alpha mutants who dominate the Genetic Revolution. He wields the power to heal or kill with a touch, but craves only privacy and solitude—both impossible dreams for the man who was used as Galahad’s physical template.

Galahad and Danyael, two men, one face. One man seeks to embrace destiny, and the other to escape it.

The award-winning Double Helix series, consisting of Perfection Unleashed, Perfect Betrayal, and Perfect Weapon, will challenge your notions of perfection and humanity, and lead you in a celebration of courage and compassion. Science fiction, urban fantasy, and action-adventure readers will enjoy this thrilling roller-coaster ride as it twists and turns through a world transformed by the Genetic Revolution.
