Author Bio:

On a cloudy day, I decided to write my first novel (I didn't really have anything else to do). The thing here is that I'm known to have a weird imagination, and I guess the first time I got told that, was the day I actually realized that I did. Which led me to putting my weird imagination on paper, turning it into a novel, and loving the fact that I actually did it. And had fun with it.

I was born and raised in New Zealand. (Yes, it's that little country beside Australia. No, it's not a part of Australia.) I dream big, and have family and friends that support me with each step I take. I spend a majority of my time reading, writing, watching Sci-Fi movies (I'm a nerd and proud!), listening to music, and going on an adventure with my characters (that's my favorite one). I am also a part-time reviewer on Step Into Fiction (That site totally rocks by the way.)

I believe that if you really want it, you can have it. I'm not saying it's going to be easy because it probably won't be. As for me, I'm excited to go on this journey and introduce everyone to the imagination that is mine, and weird. Her debut novel, Counterpart, will be published 2/13/2013.

Review; Perfect Weapon (Double Helix, #3) by Jade Kerrion

Don’t fear the army of genetically engineered perfect killers. Fear the cripple who leads them.

An alpha empath, Danyael Sabre is powerful, rare, and coveted, even among the alpha mutants who dominate the Genetic Revolution. Betrayed by his friends and abandoned to a life sentence in a maximum-security prison, Danyael receives freedom and sanctuary from an unlikely quarter—the Mutant Assault Group, an elite mutant task force within the US military. Physically crippled and emotionally vulnerable, Danyael succumbs to the warmth of friendships and the promise of love he finds within their ranks.

Friendship and love, however, demand his loyalty, and Danyael rises to the challenge of training and leading the assault group’s genetically modified super soldier army. The super soldiers are faster and stronger than the military’s human soldiers; their animal instincts spur ferocity and fearlessness in battle. Who is the perfect weapon, though, the super soldiers or Danyael, the alpha empath, who can, with a touch, heal or kill?

Adversaries swarm like vultures around carrion; the pawn is once again in play. The threads of betrayal that sent Danyael to prison spin into a web, ensnaring him. When a terrorist group strikes Washington, D.C., how far will Danyael go to defend a government that sent him to prison to die?

PERFECT WEAPON is the third novel in the award-winning Double Helix series.

My thoughts

I was addicted to this book as I was with the last two on the series, to see my reviews click Here and Here. I found myself sneak reading this book at work while the boss wasn't around or outside my son's pre school while waiting for the doors to be open.

Danyael feels the betrayal of his friends deeply which leads him straight into the grasp of General Howard the leader of the mutant assault group who as manipulated Danyael's every move.
Danyael however sees the General as the man who saved him from going back to ADX  where he was electrically tortured every half hour of every day for fourteen months. The General offers Danyael recuperation and safety.
It isn't long until Danyael realises that General as ulterior motives, he wants Danyael to train the super soldiers  The telepaths have so far had no luck and the General believes that Danyael would succeed where they failed.

Lucien still doesn't have his memories back and still hates Danyael. he wants to get his memories back he is angry that someone as messed with his head and asks Miriya to help.

Zara is falling in love with Danyael as is Miriya *I cant blame them* Zara as news she needs to share with Danyael, she as a daughter which tests confirm are Danyael.

Xin is still manipulating everyone she is almost replacing Zara in my hate for her. although her reasons are sound I cant help but feel for the people who get hurt because of her.

Galahad's templates are turning up dead although only Xin as noticed the pattern. Galahad is also struggling with being in the real world, he cant understand why everyone cares for Danyael but they keep leaving him, he hasn't learnt social behaviour and no-one as the time to teach him.

I loved this book, every time I read another instalment I love Danyael more. the characters are well thought out and rounded. Jade Kerrion really does a great job at fleshing out each character, we really get to see what makes each  character click.

I cant wait to see what else Jade Kerrion as to offer with the Double Helix series, I am really hoping Danyael will get the happy ending he really deserves.

Perfect Betrayal (Double Helix, #2) by Jade Kerrion

You can defeat your enemies, but can you defeat your friends?

Danyael Sabre, an object of desire, would much rather not be. An alpha empath by birth, a doctor by training, and an empathic healer by calling, he is stalked by the military that covets his ability to kill, not heal. Bereft of two days of memories, he goes on the run under the protection of an assassin, Zara Itani.

The more he uncovers of his lost hours, the more he doubts everything that once anchored him. He knows only that he endangers those around him and that he is falling in love with Zara, who hates him for reasons he no longer remembers.

As forces—both powerful and ruthless—threaten those he cares for, Danyael has only two options. He can betray his values and abandon the path of the healer, or he can wait to be betrayed, not by enemies, but by his friends.

My thoughts
Perfect betrayal picks up where perfection unleashed left off, Danyael is minus two days of his memoires thanks to a memory wipe, Galahad is fleeing the country with Miriya, Lucien as been convinced that Danyael is better off without the two day memories  and Zara is protecting Danyael.

Zara hates Danyael but unfortunately he cant remember why. Lucien as asked her to protect Danyael and she as agreed but she as her own reasons for helping him.

As in perfection unleashed Zara was a character I loved to hate and I yoyo'd between both emotions with her, many times I thought she would redeem herself and her actions but many times she disappointed me. because of this she was one of my favourite characters, even if I wanted to slap her. Lol

Danyael again was the hero in my eyes, he is pushed to his limit so many times, physically and emotionally  he risked himself over and over again for the people he cared for but all he got in return was betrayed.

the title of the book is spot on, it was the perfect betrayal and one Danyael never saw coming, after all he had been through already I was sure this would break him.

This book raised the question, who can you ever really trust and is one man's life ever more important than another man's.

there was one character who seriously took  a nose dive in my eyes I wont give anything away but I was disappointed with the decisions this character made especially the consequence it had on Danyael who in case you hadn't realised I completely loved.

His feelings for Zara increased the more time he spent with her and I was pleading with her to return his feelings, he so deserves to be happy even if that is with Zara.

By the end of the book I felt like I had been on a roller-coaster and I couldn't wait to pick up the next instalment.

Here is where it started

“‘Perfection Unleashed’ is a highly-enjoyable, brainy guilty pleasure of a novel: a perfect mixture of non-stop action, gripping plot, thought-provoking philosophy, and beautiful visuals…a feast for the eyes.”—A.L., Amazon reviewer

“The story moves along at a quick pace but many of the scenes seem to hover in slow motion as your senses absorb them. It is sort of like seeing your whole life before you as you are about to die. Every conceivable emotion is involved as the story plays out: fear, courage, hatred, love, jealousy, sacrifice, and the whole planet seems to be writhing in a life or death struggle…this is a book you won’t put down until the last page is turned.”—P.B. Sharp, Amazon top reviewer

Here’s the set-up:

His genetic code sourced from the best that humanity offers, Galahad embodies the pinnacle of perfection. When Zara Itani, a mercenary whose abrasive arrogance exceeds her beauty, frees him from his laboratory prison, she offers him the chance to claim everything that had ever been denied him, beginning with his humanity.

Perfection cannot be unleashed without repercussions, and Galahad’s freedom shatters Danyael Sabre’s life.

An alpha empath, Danyael is rare and coveted, even among the alpha mutants who dominate the Genetic Revolution. He wields the power to heal or kill with a touch, but craves only privacy and solitude—both impossible dreams for the man who was used as Galahad’s physical template.

Galahad and Danyael, two men, one face. One man seeks to embrace destiny, and the other to escape it.

The award-winning Double Helix series, consisting of Perfection Unleashed, Perfect Betrayal, and Perfect Weapon, will challenge your notions of perfection and humanity, and lead you in a celebration of courage and compassion. Science fiction, urban fantasy, and action-adventure readers will enjoy this thrilling roller-coaster ride as it twists and turns through a world transformed by the Genetic Revolution.

Dear Santa

I have already posted my letter the traditional way but I figured you get millions of letters each year and just in case mine somehow got lost I thought I would write a blog post, you know, in case you decide to take a break from your day to day Christmas duties.

so here it is my Christmas list.

you know me, I am a simple girl I would be happy with the usual things

Pjs
slippers
socks
smellies
books (check my Goodreads to read list )

I thought I would add a few extra's on too

more hours in the day
self ironing clothes ( would actually add more hours to my day)
Self cleaning house
for it not to rain every time I pick my son up from pre school
A money growing tree

all the above would be great but the main thing I want is a happy healthy family, I am blessed to have an amazing boyfriend and we have gorgeous son who despite allergies and severe eczema is such a happy and smiley little boy, he brings joy to my heart each day, I don't want to get soppy but he really is the most wonderful thing in my life.
My shining star, just like the one we made for the top of our tree

Review; The Gathering Darkness by Lisa Collicutt

They say "third time's the charm", and for sixteen-year-old Brooke Day, they had better be right. She’s been here before, twice in fact, and an evil demon-witch wants her dead a third time.

When Brooke is forced to leave Boston for the small town of Deadwich, she thinks her life is over. Before long, her new friends start acting strange—downright evil. But worse than that, nightmares she’s had her whole life become reality.

Enter Marcus Knight; popular, hot, and the only person Brooke can trust. Not to mention, they’ve shared the same nightmares.

With the discovery of an ancient Celtic amulet, Brooke and Marcus unravel the secrets of her past, which reveals the key to her future.

As the equinox approaches:

Darkness and light merge for the first time in a century.

Soul-mates reunite.

Magic awakens

My thoughts
Loved loved loved this book, It had all the my favourite things, Witches,  magic and soul mates what more could I ask for, oh yeah a super hot swoon worthy guy.

Marcus is going straight into my top ten book boyfriends, what I loved about him was he was a decent, sweet guy, most of my top ten list is made up of the "Bad boys" but Marcus was just *Sigh* perfect

Brooke was easy to relate to she felt so real awkward like a typical teenage girl who as moved to new place and school, but she was strong too and brave despite her fear of what was going on she didn't run away, she faced them head on.

the author manages to give us just the right amount of information when we need it, I never felt like I got an overload of information which would have been easy to do, even when reliving past lives the the pace kept up we found out with Brooke what we needed to know when we needed to know it and it never felt dragged out.

Brooke and Marcus have lived the same life twice before and each time have died/been killed in Brooke sixteenth year, this time they are determined to live, with Brooke new friends suddenly acting very strange she as no-one but Marcus to turn to, her rock, her light.

I cant say enough good things about this book, I just feel like gushing about it but, you don't want to read that, what you should read is this book, if you love magic and witches and demons and transcending love, you will love this book
